It has been a hot minute since there was a show that I watch religiously on live tv. I’ve binged plenty of Netflix shows and my DVR is filled with episodes that I have yet to watch, but Riverdale is different. It’s the show that I count down the days until it’s on and re-watch on Netflix when it’s not. Riverdale‘s Cheryl Blossom is by far my favorite character on the show.
As a fellow redhead, I love to see how Cheryl dresses each week. Her entire family embraces the color red — a shade that I have steered clear of my entire life. Cheryl embraces the color in every aspect of her life, including her makeup and outfit choices. You might not know what Cheryl will do next, but you can bet that she’ll be wearing red.
I also love the complexities to the character. When the season first starts, Cheryl seems like the mean girl. Over the course of the season, you learn that she is the way she is because of the hurt that she’s feeling. Her impeccable style stays constant though.
Since I started blogging, I have always wanted to do a thrift haul based on my favorite characters. The problem is that there aren’t too many that I connect to on television. I figured there was no better time to start than with Halloween right around the corner.
If Riverdale‘s Cheryl Blossom visited a thrift store, these are the exact pieces that she would buy.
If there’s one thing that Cheryl knows how to do, it’s make her entire life into a fashion show. Whether she’s breaking on the inside or not, she is always dressed to impress. Cheryl’s outfits are always tailored and her hair is always in place. Oh, and you can bet that she’ll be wearing red.
As Rebekka Sorensen-Kjelstrup, costume director of Riverdale, puts it in the Fashionista interview, “[Cheryl Blossom] stands out. It always feels like she’s going to an event, even though it might not be an event.”
With the exception of the tights, this entire outfit came from Goodwill. Her family would probably gag at the idea of stepping foot into the thrift store. Who knows. Maybe I would make them into believers.
Eversgreen Forest Ensemble
For the Blossoms, every event is worth getting dressed up — even when searching for your dead son’s pregnant girlfriend in the forest. Normal. The bright red blazer would fit into the scene perfectly. And, of course, you can’t forget the red lipstick.
I will admit that it was hard to find the right blazer. The blazer that Riverdale‘s Cheryl Blossom wears in the episode is much more tailored, and she actually switches out her signature red for a cranberry colored top instead. I did the best I could with this one.
Just like the above outfits, this one was found at Goodwill too. I can’t say that I’ll be wearing this blazer again, but these tailored-looking leggings will get some more use.
House Party Outfit
Cheryl made a statement as soon as she walked into Archie’s soon-to-be house party. Actually she brought the party with her. The episode was one of my favorites, because we saw a more casual side of her closet. She walked in with an amazing white faux fur jacket and high waisted shorts, which is exactly what I found at Goodwill.
This is the outfit from the entire experiment that I can see myself wearing again. Actually, I wore it out the same day I shot this look. I typically steer clear of the color red, but the character has inspired me to sneak some of it into my wardrobe.
What do you guys think of my Cheryl Blossom outfits? I tried to get a good mix in there, and would love to hear which one you liked the best. Do you have any characters that inspire you to dress a certain way? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments!
